What is Doltrix for?
Doltrix is an antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug very convenient to calm visceral pain in genitourinary and gastrointestinal conditions and post-surgical pain in general, including gynecology and urology specialties.
Doltrix is used to:
- Relieve kidney colic
- Relieve urethral colic
- Treat pain from urolithiasis (formation of stones in the urinary tract)
- Treat bladder colic
- Treat epididymitis (inflammation in the epididymis)
- Treat epididymo-orchitis
- Treat cramps from dysmenorrhea (irregular menstruation)
- Treat cholelithiasis pain
- Treat cholecystitis pain
- Treat irritable bowel pain
- Relieve intestinal spasms or enterospasms
- Treat pain from diverticulitis
- Relieve postsurgical pain in gynecology
- Relieve post-surgical pain in urology
- Relieve pain after proctologic surgery
- Relieve pain after surgery in general
- Soothe mastalgias (breast pain in women)
- Treat pain from adnexitis (inflammation of the fallopian tubes in women)
- Treat postpartum pain
- Treat pain by episiotomy (incision in the woman’s perineum to avoid tearing in the tissue)
- Treat hemorrhoid pain and inflammation
Recommended dose of Doltrix
Doltrix comes in the form of tablets. Each one contains:
- 10mg of butylhyoscine bromide
- 125mg of lysine clonixinate
There is another presentation that contains:
- 10mg of butylhyoscine bromide
- 250mg of lysine clonixinate
Both formulas are sold in boxes of 10 and 20 tablets.
The recommended dose of Doltrix will depend on the intensity of the discomfort and the health situation of the patient. Generally, the doctor indicates between one and two tablets, three or four times each day , for the days that the treatment is required.
Doltrix contraindications
Doltrix should be administered under medical supervision or completely avoided in people such as:
- Patients with hypersensitivity to lysine clonixinate
- Patients with hypersensitivity to butylhyoscine bromide
- Peptic ulcer patients
- Patients with gastrointestinal bleeding
- Megacolon patients
- Patients with thyrotoxicosis
- Patients with heart failure
- Glaucoma patients
- Patients with ulcerative colitis
- People with reflux hiatal hernia
- Men with prostatic hypertrophy that obstructs the urinary tract
- Pregnant women
- Lactating women
Side effects of Doltrix
Doltrix has possible side effects, which range from mild to moderate and are related to the excess in the dose and the hypersensitivity of the patient to the drug.
Among them are:
- Sickness
- Threw up
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Dry mouth
- Constipation
- Tachycardia or rapid pulse
